Calaveras Big Trees State Park

We drove to town to take advantage of free internet at McDonalds. It's almost embarassing that we crave our internet so much that we go to extra effort to make the connections!

Today's discovery was the Calaveras Giant Trees State Park. How could we be near BIG trees and my husband not go see them? There was snow on the ground at that elevation, but we went anyway, and even "hiked" a 1 1/4 mile loop through one of the groves. That simple little hike took a very long time because of all the slipping and sliding and slogging on a snowy, icy, muddy trail. It was pretty, though, and a nice way to spend part of the day!

We are staying at Angels Camp resort in California, with plans to leave in the morning towards the Palm Springs area. Here is a picture of a portion of our accomodatins. We have a separate bedroom, and the living room (where I am standing to take this picture) includes a fireplace and large screen TV. A very comfortable place!
