Thursday and Friday

Thursday's temperatures were going to be in the upper 90's (it actually got to 100!), so we spent the morning at the resort enjoying the ammenities, then after lunch we planned an escape to the top of the local mountains. We took an aerial tram 8500 feet up, where we enjoyed 65 degrees while we hiked a few of the trails and marvelled at the view of Palm Springs below. I even did a pastel painting while we were up there. :)

Finally we had to return to the valley, but the sun was going down and the heat didn't feel too intense. Downtown Palm Springs was holding a street market, so we had dinner and explored the creativity of vendors in the street.

Friday morning we packed up and headed for Las Vegas for a quick visit to the Eppersons. Kate was out of town on a job (bummer!), but we got to spend time with Jae, Stacey and Doug, who took us on a whirlwind tour of downtown Vegas at night. We parked the car and did our best to keep up with Jae, our tour guide for the evening, as he raced from one amazing sight to the next. Dodging and weaving through the crowds of people on the "strip" was quite exciting, but so much fun!

Here we are inside Caesar's Palace:

This is the Eifel Tower:

The fountains outside of Bellagio's were amazing!

Inside the Bellagio we saw an incredible blooming garden, and I had my picture taken with Stacey in front of a "living Monet" painting.

There was so much more to see and do, but we did not allow enough time for everything. That was our mistake...we should have planned to stay a little longer. These Epperson folks are wonderful hosts! However, we are booked at the next resort in Lake Tahoe and so we are off again.
