Bootie Designer

Being dissatisfied with all the bootie patterns I have found so far, it seemed clear that I needed to design one myself. Using elements from different patterns, and making a few prototypes in the process, I have come up with a design that pleases me. This is not a full tutorial, but here are the pictoral steps and finished products. Talk to me if you'd like complete instructions. :)

I put a non-skid sole on the bottom of these to accomodate little ones that are standing. The booties are actually very simple to make once the method is clear. I'm thinking of even trying to make a LARGE pair for myself!

Update 12/13/2016: Dorothy Jenson passed away on August 21st, 2016. Her patterns have been posted with permission at Things For Boys. Thank you everyone for loving her bootie pattern and honoring her memory.

Haha. Be sure to use the non-skid so you don't fall over when you stand up! Just kidding. Those are adorable. :)

I laughed when I read the title of your post. I thought it was going to be something totally different lol!!
You'll have to find out how well they stay on a little ones foot. Even with ties my kids still lost the ones they had.
They turned out very cute. :)

I agree with Trish about the title. I knew you wouldn't be naughty, but it made me chuckle.

How about a tutorial on the onesie dresses?

Cute booties. :)

I would love to learn how to do both the booties and the onesie dresses.

Love your booties--can't stop making them for grandkids, then their moms want them for baby shower gifts! They love that they stay on for kickers and toddlers can pull on their own.

Took me a while to figure out how to center a car, for instance, on the front toe with matching on the back, but now I've got it. I use the elastic either inside or out.

I up-cycle velour from robes, fleece, faux leather, etc.

Is the non-skid sole material sold at all fabric stores? I have never seen it before. Of course my options are limited to a Walmart. I can travel an hour away to a Hancock Fabricks. Would they have it?

Would love to have the pattern and instructions.

My twin grandsons had something similar that I purchased at a Carters store years ago that were a faux suede. They lived in those things.

Thanks for your post. Hope to be making some for my newest grandson soon.

Made two pair in green "alligator" and fuzzy owl prints. My grandson loved them! Stayed on his feet easily. Now he's grown some, and about to make a bigger pair from denim and put some "studs" on them!

Made my first pair yesterday and they turned out amazing! Today I used my copier to enlarge the pattern to make some for my 2.5yr old twins, wishing I had more fleece in my fabric stash lol. I'm going to try other fabrics too. I love the look and that the elastic is completely encased. I even enlarged 150% to make a pair for myself, just have to alter the sole to be longer and not as wide lol. Thank you SO much!

I would love to have a copy of your pattern. MY granddaughter is almost 1 year old but is very tiny and with winter coming, we have not been able to find shoes to keep her tiny toes warm. She is about the size of a 6-10 month old, roughly 13lbs these booties would be perfect! Thank you!

Great and easy to sew. But the fleece turned out to small.
How can I enlarge the length?
