Ivy on the walls

Our new house has lots of stone terraces that I look forward to planting next spring. Along the side of the house the terraces were nearly drowning in a wave of ivy from the neighbor up the hill from us. My sweet husband has been clipping back the profuse greenery a little each week, as much as possible till the yard debris cart gets full. So far he has filled it three times, and the stone sculpture is mostly uncovered. I have planted some hellebores, a hardy fuschia, and dozens of daffodil bulbs in the beds, but that's probably all I will do this fall. Come spring and summer I will be planting much more and these terraces will have waves of blossoms instead of ivy!
