Accidental Sunflowers

It must have been the birds who planted the seeds for these sunflowers. I saw them sprout and recognized them as sunflower seedlings and have wondered how long they would survive in an area that does not get watered. They didn't grow tall, but they sure are happy looking, and I enjoy seeing them every day!

The bees kind of like them, too. :)

Oooh, nice photos! They look so cheery. My short sunflowers have already gone to seed so I have whacked off their heads to prevent a whole forest of sunflowers in my garden next year. (I am sure there will be a few.) I was going to pull them out entirely, except that the tomatoes are using the sunflower stalks for support. So the stalks get to stay, for now...
