Takena RV

Ever since last summer when we did our 6 week cross-country camping trip, we have had the desire to do more outdoor traveling and exploring. I am retired, Ken is close to it, and we are able to schedule short trips frequently. However, camping in the northwest is fairly limited due to our (mostly) rainy climate year round.

We decided to keep our eyes open for a compact, lightweight, Blazer-towable RV that we could use to become year-round "Weekend Warriors". This week we found it! We had a "wish list" of all the things we felt our personal RV should have, including a the price that we had budgeted for, and this little unit met all our criteria. Happily, it was even located just 2 miles from our home! It's a 2008 Takena by Chalet and is in excellent condition. The Takena is parked temporarily at the Haynie's (Thank you!!) while we get it geared up for camping. I think I'll head out to the Dollar Store this week. :)

Meanwhile, we took pictures this afternoon and measured all the storage cupboards for future uses.

Here's the outside views:

Entry closets and bathroom door.

Cute little bathroom sink and cabinet. Shower stall to the left.

The toilet. Ken made sure he could shut the bathroom door while sitting. :)

The couch pulls out to create a single bed. Cabinetry above with radio and CD player.

The dinette area. Table goes down to create queen sized bed. Above the dinette is another single size bunk bed. It's in the bunk position in this photo, but it folds up to clip to the ceiling when not in use and bedding can be stored behind it.

The kitchenette, refridgerator and microwave oven above. There's a two burner stove, but no oven. We don't bake on our trips anyway, so that gives more cabinet space!

And one more view looking towards the bathroom door again. The Takena has large holding tanks, a propane heater (plus an electric heater in the ceiling if needed), air conditioning, and water heater. Yahoo! It's time to go exploring! We have just become RV'ers. Sweet.
