We were awaked at 5:45 AM yesterday by all seven smoke alarms going off in the house! After a quick, frantic look-around we determined there was nothing dangerous to be concerned about. Throughout the day the alarms kept going off, and I knew something was malfunctioning. After reading the product guide I determined that they probably needed a good cleaning with canned air and new batteries.
By evening, with the alarms STILL going off randomly, we were getting worried about being able to get any sleep. Ken had by then discovered which alarm was starting the rest of them off. (When one goes off, they ALL go off...it's a nice safety feature....I suppose. It's awfully LOUD!) We decided to completely remove that unit from the wiring system until we figured out the problem.
The Itsy-bitsy spider must not have liked the idea that his new home was being jostled, so he popped out and headed for the floor. We were so surprised. One tiny spider caused all that ruckus? Yep. The battery was still in place, yet it never made another sound after that. At least we had a good night's rest. And today I drew a picture and re-wrote the song:

Yes, we have had "spider alarms" too. We've never seen the culprit but we know he's in there! Usually our system just goes off once though--usually about 3:00 am and then we don't go back to sleep--curse the spider the rest of the day. Our alarms all go off at once too, since we rewired the house. So sorry your spider was such a tough customer! Good verse to the song.
