The Gift of Memories

Last June Ken and I were able to be "Ma" and "Pa" to a group of young people for a week to experience a hot and dusty Handcart Trek. It was a truly memorable event in our lives and the lives of the youth. For Christmas, one of the girls in our family (Kayla) presented us with a printed and bound book which contains photos from the week as well as journaling to re-tell the story from her own perspective. She also included a wonderful Thank You note to us! Last night one of our boys came over with his parents and they gave us a large handmade scrapbook photo album of the entire activity. It was mostly created by his Mom, of course, but Travis helped with some of the arrangements and journaling, since he was the one who was actually there. It was fun to visit with Travis again (he's 15) and reminisce about some of the things that happened on our journey in June.

Sometimes we see some of our "children" in various places at Church or in the community and every time we do they greet us with great delight and hugs. It's fun to be remembered so fondly, and we are very glad we made the "sacrifice" to go along with them.
